PHD SCHOLARSHIPS IN MATHMATICS

   The joint-program between the Abdus Salam School of Mathematical Sciences (ASSMS) GC University, Pakistan and the Chinese Society for Combinatorics and Graph Theory is offering FIVE scholarships to do a PhD program in Mathematics at the the Abdus Salam School of Mathematical Sciences, GC University, Pakistan.

   The PhD scholarship includes a stipend of at least Rs.36,000 (US$600) per month for at most 4 years. The tuition fee is waived. For your information, living expense (renting room, food, transport) for a student in Lahore is approximately Rs. 10,000 per month.

    The Abdus Salam School of Mathematical Sciences provides an international research atmosphere. The School consists of 42 mathematicians from all over the world. The list of professors and their field can be seen in the attachment.

   The PhD program at ASSMS consists of 18-month course works and 18-month researches. The program starts on September 14th, 2008.

REQUIREMENT:

   1 Holding a 4-year University degree in Mathematics with GPA at least 3.0

   2 Should be highly motivated and have good communication skills.

   3 Pass the admission test prepared by ASSMS and administrated by The Center for Discrete      Mathematics and Theoretical Computer Science at Fuzhou University.

   4 The admission test consists of Algebra, Analysis and Geometry, in one paper at a      duration of three hours.

   5 Must be able to learn Mathematics in English

   The closing date for all applications is April 30th, 2008.
   Admission test will be conducted on May 15th, 2008.
